INTRODUCTION TO WHEEL THROWING WORKSHOP

Curious about trying the pottery wheel? This hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to wheel throwing and the basics of working with clay on the potter’s wheel.
Hanna will begin with a demonstration, walking participants through the fundamental steps of wheel throwing, including preparing the clay, centering, opening, pulling up the walls, and shaping a simple form. Participants will then get plenty of hands-on time at their own wheel to practice these techniques and create their own pieces.
The focus of this workshop is on learning the process, getting comfortable at the wheel, and having fun with clay. No previous pottery experience is required!
At the end of the workshop, each participant can select one piece to keep, which will be finished, glazed, and fired by the studio. If you fall in love with more than one of your creations, additional pieces can be kept for $10 each. Once fired, your pottery will be ready to pick up at The Potter’s Homestead.
This workshop is designed for complete beginners, but anyone looking to refresh their wheel-throwing skills is welcome.
Duration: 3 hours, including approximately 20 minutes at the end for cleanup.
For participants aged 14+.
Please note that a minimum of 3 participants is required for the workshop to take place.
ATELIER D’INITIATION AU TOURNAGE

Vous avez toujours voulu essayer le tour de potier? Cet atelier pratique est l'occasion parfaite de découvrir le tournage et les techniques de base pour travailler l'argile sur le tour.
Hanna commencera par une démonstration des différentes étapes du tournage, notamment la préparation de l'argile, le centrage, l'ouverture, la montée des parois et le façonnage d'une forme simple. Les participant(e)s auront ensuite amplement de temps à leur propre tour pour pratiquer ces techniques et créer leurs propres pièces.
L'objectif de cet atelier est d'apprendre le processus, de se familiariser avec le tour et surtout de s'amuser avec l'argile. Aucune expérience préalable en poterie n'est nécessaire!
À la fin de l'atelier, chaque participant(e) pourra choisir une pièce à conserver, qui sera ensuite finalisée, émaillée et cuite par le studio. Si vous souhaitez conserver plus d'une de vos créations, les pièces supplémentaires sont 10 $ chacune. Une fois terminées, vos pièces pourront être récupérées à The Potter’s Homestead.
Cet atelier est conçu pour les débutant(e)s, mais les personnes souhaitant rafraîchir leurs connaissances en tournage sont également les bienvenues.
