This sturdy stoneware crock is thrown by hand on the potter's wheel and carefully glazed in classic taupe. A tasteful Turner Farm "T" logo is stamped at the base.
This is the original clay vessel that the people of yesteryear used to store their sourdough starters! This size comfortably holds a double levain (for the turner farm master recipe), which means you can make a double batch just using one crock!
It also comfortably holds a single levain as well, it just will only take up half the jar. We made these large so you never have to worry about your levain exploding out of the jar.
Benefits: maintains temperature of the starter and fermentation so it ferments more evenly and holds peak fermentation a lot better than a thinner glass. Less affected by really hot climates .
