This sturdy stoneware crock is thrown by hand on the potter's wheel and carefully glazed in a satin earthy brown glaze on the outside, and speckled beige glossy finish on the inside for easy every day use and washing. A tasteful Turner Farm "T" logo is stamped at the base.
Use: The original clay vessel that the people of yesteryear used to store their sourdough starters! The pint sized crock comfortably holds 110-125g sourdough starter at its peak fermentation/activity (which are my sourdough ratios).
Benefits: Maintains temperature of the starter and fermentation so it ferments more evenly and holds peak fermentation a lot better than a thinner glass. Less affected by really hot climates.
Given the handmade nature of this item, the final result will slightly vary, especially the drips around the lip.
